Niall Horan
Niall James Horan is an Irish singer-songwriter born on September 13, 1993, in Mullingar, County Westmeath. He rose to international prominence as a member of One Direction, the boy band formed on the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010. At just 16 years old, Horan auditioned and was initially eliminated from the competition but was placed in a group with four other contestants by judge Nicole Scherzinger, creating what would become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. The group released five albums and achieved unprecedented chart success, becoming the first UK group to have their debut album reach number one in the United States and the only group in Billboard 200 history to have their first four albums debut at number one.
Following One Direction's indefinite hiatus in 2016, Horan signed a solo recording deal with Capitol Records and released his debut album Flicker in 2017, which topped the charts in Ireland and the United States. His second studio album Heartbreak Weather (2020) debuted at number one in the UK, Ireland, and Mexico, while his third album The Show (2023) reached number one in eight countries. His musical style blends soft rock, pop, and pop rock with elements of country and folk, influenced by classic rock bands like the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, as well as singer-songwriters including Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen.
Beyond his recording career, Horan has established himself as a television personality, serving as a coach on The Voice (seasons 23 and 24), where his teams won back-to-back seasons. He co-founded Modest Golf, a golf management company, and has been actively involved in charitable work, supporting causes including Irish Autism Action, Comic Relief, and UNICEF. Horan has also been recognized for his advocacy work, receiving an Arnie Award in 2017 for his charitable contributions.
