Discovery
Daft Punk • 2001
Discovery is Daft Punk's seminal second studio album, marking a transformative shift from the raw Chicago house of Homework toward a more sophisticated palette of disco, post-disco, and garage house influences. Released in March 2001, the album represents an exploration of song structures, musical forms, and nostalgic childhood memories. Featuring extensive sampling and collaborations with Romanthony, Todd Edwards, and DJ Sneak, Discovery was recorded between 1998-2000 at Thomas Bangalter's Paris home. The album became a watershed moment in electronic music, spawning the massive hit "One More Time" and inspiring the acclaimed anime film Interstella 5555. Widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time, Discovery fundamentally shaped electronic and pop production for decades to come.
